When being a professional sucks

Perusing our local news in the Bridgetown Reader this afternoon I happened to come upon what I'm calling fate. I'm a big believer in fate cause there isn't too much I do believe in...except for Karma, not my cat the other one. A contest called Recipe to Riches, a new Food Network series...my favourite channel even though I don't have it as we still have rabbit ears...where they take your average joe and their best recipe in one of 7 different categories and have it judged locally then it's on to Toronto if you win to compete in weekly cook offs and eliminations to narrow down to the best in each category. It is sponsored by Loblaws and to hell with the money prize, $25,000 for best recipe and a chance at $250,000 for best overall recipe voted by YOU Canada, your recipe would become a President's Choice product! This has been my dream since I have become completely addicted to their products first as a meat eater and later as a vegetarian. I have dreamed of working in the recipe creation division...if there is such a thing...and having my veggie friendly foods out in a grocery store near you!! I think it was that Lassy Mogs commercial a few years ago that made me start thinking that this is something I would like to do. I am forever experimenting, trying to come up with something meatless and delicious and healthy..sometimes...This is what I want to do and get pais for. Mind you the $250,000 clams wouldn't last long, especially if I got that cheque in Toronto...hello inviting all my veggie friends up for the supper of a lifetime...but doing recipes for money is not a JOB to me. Sadly though, reading through the rules I saw the instant disqualifier..NO PROFESSIONAL CHEFS. Tears are running down my face as I write this, a chance that will never be. But because I'm not a super bitch I will give out the website and hope one of you makes it, even if you can't be as good as me. Good Luck.
